1. What makes me, me? Well, I think the thing that makes me myself, and you yourself is our uniqueness. One day, I might feel that my love of both classical and soca music within the same hour makes me unique. I might feel unique the day I decide to coordinate my eye shadow with my nail color. Then, I am reminded of my uniqueness through the words that I write. The way I create sentences through my thoughts and feelings is a unique display of all of my life's moments and experiences coming together to form a declaration of something. & I like to blur the lines between myself and yourself sometimes too, by remembering that you and I both have something unique to declare.
2. I did not grow feeling like the black sheep, but I was always so much moodier and sensitive than my family members, I felt misunderstood for sure. Recently, I've felt a duty to uncover generational truths within my family of origin. This work can feel isolating especially when we don't all agree on the same truths. This experience has only taught me to admire my uniqueness even more and to always realign myself with my own purpose and truths. It's important to recognize that walking in your unique purpose can offer radical love and healing to those around you.
3. My go-to affirmation these days is really simple. I am a human. I try to remember in times of chaos that I am a spiritual being having a physical experience. I am both the strength and fragility of life and it is meant to be a beautiful balance.
